Christmas Closure 2017

December 19, 2017

Dear Parent/Carer

I am writing to inform you of the following closures for Christmas and the Spring term.

The end of this term is Wednesday 20th December 2017 and the timetables for students on this day are as follows.

  • Key Stage 3 students (years 7, 8, and 9) from 9.00am to 10.30am

  • Key Stage 4 students (years 10 and 11) from 11.00am to 12.30pm

The Spring Term will commence on Thursday 4th January 2018 and individual changes to timetables will be confirmed, as normal.

Year 11 Exam dates are as follows:

  • iGCSE Maths                     Monday 8th January, 9am - 11am

  • Functional Skills English       Wednesday 10th January, 9am - 11am

  • iGCSE Maths                     Tuesday 16th January, 9am - 11am

Students who will be sitting these exams will be sent confirmation in a separate letter from the Exams Officer.

Changes to Centre timetables on the above Exam days are as follows:

  • Key Stage 3 and any Key Stage 4 students who are not sitting exams – lessons cancelled in the morning.  Afternoon lessons will continue as normal.

  • Students who are not sitting exams will still be expected to attend their offsite provisions: Wellies On, Rally Sport and Colchester Institute.

PLP meetings for all students will be arranged for the early part of next term and a letter will be sent out inviting parents/carers to attend.

As winter continues the situation may arise where we may have to close the centre due to adverse weather conditions.  Parents/carers will need to look at the Essex County Council website for school closures.  School closures are no longer listed on local radio stations.  See website links below:

May I take this opportunity to remind you of our Uniform code and our No Smoking on site policies. These would have been discussed at your first meeting with staff.  Can you please ensure that you remind your child of these policies in readiness for the new term.

Thank you for your support this year in ensuring that your children attend regularly and on time and that they follow school rules and learn effectively.  With your support we can ensure successful learning outcomes for your child.  On behalf of staff and the Governing Body, I wish you all a happy Christmas and look forward to welcoming all pupils back to the centre in the New Year.

Yours sincerely

Felicity Lee

Head of School
